Oil alarm OM5
Oil Accidents and Their Consequences

The AFRISO-EURO-INDEX OM5 oil alarm was designed to detect oil accumulations and to monitor drip pans (e.g. below tanks, burners, motors), rooms, access chambers and pipe or cable ducts. OM5 is also suitable for a great variety of other applications such as monitoring for unwanted oil caused by leaks of backpressure in pumping or control stations.

OM5 consists of a control unit and a maximum of five probes (for five independent points) which are connected by three-core signal cables. The control unit contains the following elements in an impact-resistant plastic housing: display elements and controls as well as all electronic components for signal processing and conversion of the probe signal into a digital output signal which is available via a voltage-free relay contact (changeover).

The probes are mounted at the lowest point of the area to be monitored. If the unit detects oil, it immediately generates visual and audible alarms; the audible alarm can be switched off with the mute button. The unit indicates which of the probes 1-5 generated the alarm. The control unit is supplied with AC 230 V. It is designed for wall-mounting or installation in control cabinets or control panels (optional mounting frame required).

OM5 has the Technical Approval of the German Institute for Building Technology Z-65.40-214.

The oil alarm detects heating oil EL, L, M, diesel oil and low-viscosity lubricating oil (group A III and danger class A III), motor oil, gearbox oil, hydraulic oil, vegetable oil and transformer oil.

In order to guarantee maximum reliability, it is possible to connect AFRISO event reporting systems to the OM5 oil alarm. The operator is then immediately informed of alarms via the Internet, e-mail, SMS, telephone or fax to allow for fast and efficient action.
