Piston type anti-siphon valve KAV
Avoiding drainage of tanks

The new AFRISO KAV piston type anti-siphon valve is used as safety equipment in oil fired systems as per DIN 4755 with a pipe section below the maximum tank level. In the case of a leak in the suction line, the KAV piston type anti-siphon valve keeps the tank from being drained as a result of the siphon effect. KAV is suitable for fuel oil EL (DIN 51603-1), diesel fuel (EN 590), biofuel (EN 14213) and biodiesel (EN 14214) with up to 100 % FAME.

KAV is a vacuum-controlled shut-off system. KAV is closed when the burner pump is not in operation. When the burner pump starts, a vacuum is generated in the suction line. This vacuum opens KAV and fuel oil is pumped from the tank. If there is a leak in the suction line or when the burner pump stops, KAV is closed. The suction line between the tank and the burner pump is interrupted. The new KAV features pressure relief in both directions and opens towards the burner pump and towards the tank. The pressure relief is independent of the adjusted safe height which is fully adjustable from 1-4 m. The adjusted value corresponds to the actual safe height and not the installation height (as in the case of diaphragm type anti-siphon valves). This results in reduced line resistance, which has a positive effect on the service life of the burner and the pump. Due to the piston as the main actuating element, malfunctions caused by pollution, ice or system overpressure are practically impossible.

KAV has been designed as a sealed system for an oil flow rate of up to 220 l/h and is suitable for ambient temperatures from -25 to 60 °C, i.e. also for outdoor use (manhole). The fitting has two female G3⁄8 connections; a pressure gauge, a pressure compensation unit or a tester can also be connected.

KAV is odour-tight (PROOFED BARRIER) and has the Technical Approval of the German Institute for Building Technology Z-65.50-415.
