Good Luck Tour 2016
Good Luck Tour 2016 – Cycling for children with cancer!

In keeping with the tradition of chimney sweeps bringing good luck, the motto of the chimney sweeps on their bikes at this year’s anniversary Good Luck Tour is “Where one kind heart goes, more are sure to follow”. At the individual stage finishes, all donations will be given directly to local initiatives which are dedicated to helping children with cancer and their families or advancing cancer research. Many celebrities, e.g. Olympic weightlifting champion Matthias Steiner, Erik Zabel and Jens Heppner, support the Good Luck Tour to generate even greater public awareness.

On 22 June, 40 Good Luck Tour cyclists set out from Heilbronn bound for Stuttgart, stopping by at AFRISO in Güglingen for a mid-day break. Matthias Steiner cycled this stage along with the group. After the cyclists arrived, Good Luck Tour organiser Ralf Heibrok was able to accept two cheques from companies in the region, and also pass on two cheques to two institutions which support children with cancer. A 13-year-old was very happy about Matthias Steiner’s spending so much time with him and, in addition to autographing his T-shirt, sharing some good tips from one athlete to another.
The chimney sweeps’ 11th annual Good Luck Tour takes place from 22 - 28 July 2016. Already more than one million euros in donations have been collected for children with cancer, making the Good Luck Tour one of the biggest private relief campaigns in Germany. The route of this year’s approximately 1,000 km Good Luck Tour runs from Neckarsulm via Güglingen to Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Thaleischweiler, Monzingen, Bad Kreuznach, Koblenz and Bonn all the way to Cologne, where the cycling chimney sweeps will be received on 28 June, the day of the German Federal Association of Chimney Sweeps. The Good Luck Tour 2016 will be distributing donations made in 2015 amounting to € 176,000 and collecting new donations for the Good Luck Tour 2017.
