Tank Room Lining (rb_702t1)
Securing Tank Rooms Against Oil Damage

Are you really positive your fuel tank in the basement is OK and nothing can go wrong when the tank is refilled? Are you sure that old tank room still meets the required safety standards? No stress cracks, no fissures, no plaster flaking off the walls, no problems with the paint, no other types of damage? There's no reason for complacency since the home owner is fully liable in case of oil leaks! Depending on the type and severity of an oil accident, repairing the damage can become extremely expensive: removal of the oil tank, cleaning of the basement floor in more harmless cases, removal of the complete floor and the earth below it in worse cases. And if the oil happens to reach the groundwater, you will have caused a massive environmental problem with dramatic financial ramifications! The pertinent legislation is clear: tank rooms must be tight! The new AFRISO-EURO-INDEX tank room lining provides an excellent technical and economical solution both for renovations and new installations of tank rooms. The tank room lining provides permanent safety. All the stringent requirements of the German Water Act and the German VAwS (Directive Concerning Handling of Water-Polluting Substances) in terms of safety and tightness of storage rooms and drip pans are fully met. The tank room is sealed.

The new AFRISO-EURO-INDEX tank room lining is designed to seal drip pans and rooms used to stored water-polluting liquids. AFRISO manufactures the tank lining to the exact dimensions required. The individual sheets are factory-welded to be absolutely leak-tight. The lining is then installed in the tank room and fitted to the wall by means of means of aluminium rails. Extensive preparation work in the tank room is not required since the protective foil covers cracks and adapts to uneven surfaces. The foil can also be used in humid basement rooms since humidity can diffuse through the foil. A layer of geotextile below the foil protects the lining. During the work process, the tank is not removed, but lifted by means of special lifting gear (such as a pneumatic cushion or similar equipment). The tank is first lifted at one end, the foil is fitted and then the tank is lifted at the other end to complete the process. If the too much oil is contained in the tank, the oil is removed and stored in an intermediate tank. Removal and refitting is recommended in the case of battery tanks. After installation of the lining, hard rubber discs are placed below the tank and protective material in the aisles to prevent damage to the foil. If the tank was emptied, it is refilled.

A bell jar can be used to ensure the complete protection system is really tight. Optional oil/water alarm units can be installed which generate visual and audible alarm signals in the case of internal damage. Such alarm units can also detect liquids from the outside, e.g. as a result of flooding. The installation of the tank room lining takes approximately one day. The supply of the oil heating system is not interrupted, i.e. the heating system can remain on all the time.
Therefore, the lining can easily be installed at any time of the year. The tank room lining is approved for fuel oil EL and diesel. Technical Approval of the German Institute for Building Technology:
